Abstract:
Provided are: a production method the enables production of lanthanum hexaboride-containing composite particles which can impart sufficiently high transparency to a molded article and has excellent weather resistance, by using a simple operation but without performing a high-temperature firing treatment; and a production method for a molded article using the particles. This production method for composite particles is characterized by reacting at least one type of a silica precursor selected from the group consisting of tetraalkoxy silanes, hydrolysates thereof, and condensates thereof, in the presence of lanthanum hexaboride particles, a volatile base, water, and an organic solvent, to obtain a first reaction mixture, and then reacting the first reaction mixture with at least one type of a silicon compound selected from the group consisting of amino-modified silicones, alkyl silanes, and amino silanes, or with the silicon compound and additionally the silica precursor, to obtain a second reaction mixture containing lanthanum hexaboride-containing composite particles.
