Title:
PRODUCTION METHOD FOR LONG-CHAIN, SATURATED, ALIPHATIC, PRIMARY ALCOHOLS
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/152501
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
The present invention aims to provide a method for efficiently producing long-chain, saturated, aliphatic, primary alcohols with a high degree of purity. A long-chain, saturated, fatty acid ester is produced by a cross coupling reaction between a halogenated ester, in which a pivaloyl group blocks the hydroxyl group of the halogenated alcohol, and a Grignard reagent; and the subsequent deprotection of the pivaloyl group. Therefore it is possible to efficiently produce long-chain, saturated, aliphatic, primary alcohols with a high degree of purity.
