Abstract:
A technique capable of producing metal iron high in metallization and iron purity with high yield and efficiency by minimizing a metal iron re−oxidizing problem encountered at the end of solid reduction when producing metal iron by heating&sol reducing material substances including an iron−oxide−containing substance and a carbonaceous reducing agent. A method of producing metal iron by heating material substances including an iron−oxide−containing substance and a carbonaceous reducing agent in a moving hearth type reducing&sol melting furnace, and reducing&sol melting the iron oxide in the material substances, wherein the reducing&sol melting furnace is partitioned into at least three sections in the moving direction of the hearth − namely, a solid reducing section on the upstream side in the hearth moving direction, a carburizing&sol melting section on the downstream side, and a reducing&sol aging section between the solid reducing section and the carburizing&sol melting section.
