Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for producing a molded body, such as a pellet, with an excellent color and no reduction in physical properties, from a polyphenylene ether resin powder and a polystyrene resin starting material at a high degree of production efficiency. Specifically disclosed is a production method for a molded body of a polyphenylene ether resin composition, that is characterized in that, when producing the molded body of the polyphenylene ether resin composition by melting and mixing a polyphenylene ether resin and a polystyrene resin by means of an extruder, the polyphenylene ether resin that is used 1) utilizes a powder with a mean particle size of 50 to 600 μm, and 2) has been treated with inert gas by pouring said powder in a fluidized state through an inert gas with an oxygen concentration of no more than 10% for a distance of at least 1 m before introducing into the extruder.
