Abstract:
Disclosed is a production method for a second polyimide powder, the method comprising: a spraying step for spraying a polyimide solution containing a polyimide having a repeating unit represented by formula (1), an imidization agent, and a solvent to form a first polyimide powder containing the solvent; and a thermally drying step for thermally drying the first polyimide powder under reduced pressure to obtain the second polyimide powder substantially free from the solvent. By this method, the imidization agent and the solvent are completely removed from the HFIP group-containing polyimide solution, waste matter is reduced in the removal to the greatest extent possible, and a polyimide powder having excellent storage stability can be obtained without a reduction in the weight-average molecular weight thereof. In formula (1), R1 represents a divalent organic group including a 2-hydroxy-1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropyl group, and R2 represents a tetravalent organic group.
