Abstract:
Provided is a technique which makes production of reduced iron with a per-piece crushing load of 80kgf or greater achievable. In this production method for reduced iron, when heating an agglomerate containing an iron oxide-containing substance and a carbonaceous reducing agent and producing a reduced iron by reducing the iron oxide in the agglomerate, the agglomerate is heated in a first phase wherein heating is conducted so that, with a heating temperature range determined on the basis of the basicity (CaO/SiO2 ratio) of the agglomerate, and described below in (a)-(d), the metallization ratio becomes 60%-95%. The agglomerate is subsequently heated in a second phase wherein heating is conducted at 1300-1400°C, for 5-18 minutes. (a) If CaO/SiO2<0.93, the heating temperature range shall be 1093°C or less. (b) If 0.93≤CaO/SiO2<1.07, the heating temperature range shall be 1223°C or less. (c) If 1.07≤CaO/SiO2<1.87, the heating temperature range shall be 1230°C or less. (d) If 1.87≤CaO/SiO2, the heating temperature range shall be less than 1300°C.
