Title:
PRODUCTION OF TETANUS, DIPHTHERIA, AND PERTUSSIS TOXINS AND TOXOIDS USING FERMENTATION MEDIA CONTAINING NO COMPONENTS OF ANIMAL OR SOY ORIGIN
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO2006042542
Kind Code:
A3
Abstract:
The present invention discloses that non-animal and non-soy based result in increased growth of C.tetani, C.diphteriae, and B.pertussis and result in equivalent or increased yield of tetanus toxin, diphteria toxin and pertussis toxin, respectively, compared to cultivation of the bacteria in media containing animal-derived or soy-derived proteinaceous material. Preferably the proteinaceous hydrolysates are derived from wheat, a mixture of rice and wheat, from potato, or from yeast.
