Abstract:
Disclosed is a program update device (1) that is mounted in a vehicle wherein a battery can be charged from the outside, and that serves to update a software program used in the vehicle. The program update device (1) is characterized in that the same is provided with a charging time acquisition unit (14) which acquires battery charging time; an update time acquisition unit (15) which acquires the time required to update the program; a comparison unit (16) which compares the charging time acquired by the charging time acquisition unit (14), and the update time acquired by the update time acquisition unit (15); and an update execution unit (20) which executes the update of the program on the basis of the comparison made by the comparison unit (16). By means of this configuration, it is possible to appropriately determine a program which can be updated during battery charging time and reliably implement updating of the program during charging of the vehicle battery.
