Abstract:
Provided is a projection device which, while allowing one to approach the screen with ease, avoids problems such as the light projecting portion of the projection device obscuring viewing of the image or regular reflected light producing glare. The projection direction of image light (PL) is switched by disposing a display region (30a) for a reflective type liquid crystal element (30) in a prescribed quadrant or another quadrant; therefore, switching of the projection direction for the image light (PL) is possible while projecting the image light in a direction inclined with respect to the reference axes (AX1, AX2) for four quadrants included in an image cycle (IC). Thus, the projection direction can be set according to the disposition on a desk (200) or the like, that is, according to the installation environment. Thus, a user can approach a screen on the desk (200) from the direction of the reference axes (AX1, AX2) for the four quadrants and can observe an image (IM) projected onto this screen without being obscured by the projection device (100) itself.
