Abstract:
Provided is a projection optical device for projecting images with fine image quality while seeking reduction in size of the device. This projection optical device 5 is provided with: a fourth lens group L4 that is movable along an optical axis Ax; a fifth lens group L5 that is disposed adjacent to the fourth lens group L4, and of which the position is maintained in the projection optical device 5; a fourth lens frame 64 that holds the fourth lens group L4 and has a cam pin 64p; a guide barrel 67 that has a straight groove through which the cam pin 64p is inserted; and a cam barrel 68 into which the guide barrel 67 is fitted, that has a cam groove with which the cam pin 64p protruding from the straight groove engages, that rotationally moves with respect to the guide barrel 67 to, together with the straight groove and the cam groove, guide the cam pin 64p, and that moves the fourth lens frame 64 along the optical axis Ax. Along the direction of the optical axis Ax, the cam pin 64p is formed on the front stage side of the fourth lens group L4 on the optical path, and the fifth lens group L5 is disposed on the front stage side of the fourth lens group L4 on the optical path within the fourth lens frame 64.
