Provided is a projection system (100), comprising a light source apparatus (110), a light modulation module (140), a projection lens (170) and a light recycling module (160). The light source apparatus (110) comprises a first light source (111) and a second light source (112); the first light source (111) is used for emitting first light; the first light is used for modulating an image in a first colour gamut range; the second light source (112) is used for emitting supplementary light for widening a colour gamut of at least one kind of light in excitation light emitted by the first light source (111); and the supplementary light is used for modulating, together with the first light, an image in a second colour gamut range. The light modulation module (140) is used for carrying out image modulation on the light emitted by the light source apparatus (110) according to image data, so as to generate non-projection light, and projection light required by an image to be displayed. The projection lens (170) is used for receiving the projection light, so as to project the image. The light recycling module (160) is used for recycling the non-projection light to the light modulation module (140) to be reused. The projection system realizes a wider colour gamut range, a better image effect and a higher light use ratio.
