Abstract:

Provided are a projection type display device and an operation assistance method such that an operator can enjoy an operation assistance function even in the event of an abnormality in an optical modulation unit or an image information input unit during operation. A system control unit (47) of an HUD stops a light source unit (40) upon detecting an abnormality in the optical modulation device (44) and a drive unit (45). Furthermore, when image information generated by a projection image information generation part (52) includes image information that prompts the operator to pay attention to the view ahead, the system control unit (47) causes a liquid crystal display device (61) of an instrument cluster to display a warning image that is based on the image information.
