Abstract:
The problem addressed by the present invention is to provide a projection unit that can achieve a HUD wherein reductions in visibility because of outside light are suppressed. The problem is addressed by a projection unit having a projector, a polarization dependent diffusion sheet that produces diffuse reflection of projected light emitted by the projector, and a mirror that reflects light scattered by the polarization dependent diffusion sheet, said polarization dependent diffusion sheet producing diffused reflection of linear polarized light in one direction and transmitting linear polarized light in a direction orthogonal to the one direction.
