Abstract:
The present invention implements a projector, a compensation system and method for a light source of the projector which enable compensation for economic loss caused when a lamp is replaced before the end of the life thereof. This projector comprises: a light source that uses a lamp; a timer that measures the use time of the lamp; a storage unit that stores the life (Twar) of the lamp, the use time (Tcur) measured by the timer, the sum total (Ttot) of compensation times of a plurality of lamps, the total number (CREDITtot) of lamps to be compensated for, and the number (CREDITcur) of lamps to be compensated for at the present point in time; and a control unit that, when the lamp is replaced, causes the storage unit to perform updating and recording of Ttot=Ttot+(Twar-Tcur) if the use time (Tcur) of the lamp to be replaced is shorter than the life (Twar) of the lamp, and causes the storage unit to perform updating and recording of CREDITtot=(Ttot/Twar), CREDITcur=CREDITcur+1 if (Ttot/Twar) is larger than CREDITtot.
