Abstract:
The purpose of this projector is to suppress an increase in cost and in the size of a projection lens, and to make it possible to use a projection lens having an MTF value less than a prescribed value relative to the spatial frequency of a panel, when using a high-definition display panel as an image formation means. This projector has a DMD for forming an image, a projection lens for projecting the image formed by the DMD onto a projection surface, and a display control unit for controlling the image formation operation of the DMD. The display control unit forms a frame image by sequentially forming a plurality of images from combined pixels (303a, 300b) formed from a plurality of pixels (302), and when forming two temporally continuously formed images, forms one image at a position shifted relative to the other image in a prescribed direction by only the distance corresponding to the DMD pixel pitch.
