Abstract:

Provided is a projector that makes it possible to project in any direction. Arranged on an optical axis going from a screen (15) side toward an image formation panel (13) are: a first holding cylinder (41); a first mirror where a first optical axis (CL1) of the first holding cylinder (41) is bent by 90°; a second holding cylinder (42); a second mirror where a second optical axis (CL2) of the second holding cylinder (42) is bent by 90°; and a third holding cylinder (43). A first coupling section (44) couples the first holding cylinder (41), including the first mirror, to the second holding cylinder (42) so as to freely rotate in increments of 90°. A second coupling section (45) couples the second holding cylinder (42) and the second mirror to the third holding cylinder (43) so as to freely rotate in 90° increments. The orientation of a display image of the image formation panel (13) is changed depending on a state of optical axis rotation of a first sensor and a second sensor, and the orientation of a projected image on the screen (15) is matched to an original image.
