Abstract:
This propagation characteristic analysis device uses Brillouin time domain analysis to analyze a propagation characteristic over the length direction of an optical fiber to be analyzed, which is a multiple mode optical fiber for multiplexing multiple modes. The propagation characteristic analysis device is characterized by comprising: a means for inputting probe light of a desired mode from the distal end of the optical fiber to be analyzed; a means for inputting, from the proximal end of the optical fiber to be analyzed, as pump light with respect to the probe light, a light pulse of a desired mode which has a frequency difference corresponding to the Brillouin frequency shift of the desired mode with respect to the probe light; and a means for inputting, from the proximal end of the optical fiber to be analyzed, as second probe light which is probe light with respect to the probe light, a light pulse which is of a mode different from the desired mode and which has, with respect to the probe light, a frequency difference corresponding to the Brillouin frequency shift of the different mode.
