Abstract:
This invention relates to a propulsion efficiency improving apparatus for ships, used to improve the propulsion efficiency of a propeller of a ship and a propeller of an outboard motor of a small-sized ship. This apparatus consists of a cylindrical member (1) provided around a propeller (3) of a ship, and a plurality of baffle fins (2) having a center on the shaft of the propeller or an extension thereof and provided in the portion of the interior of the cylindrical member (1) which is before or behind the propeller (3). The propeller back wash occurring spirally at the back of the propeller by the rotation thereof and consumed as waste energy can be utilized efficiently as thrust.
