Title:
PROPULSION SYSTEM BASED ON ACTION-REACTION IMBALANCE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/1996/034198
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Type of propulsion that generates directional forces that permit any vehicle its autonomous displacement. 1) The propeller (A) moved by the motor, impels the liquid of the conduit (B) in the direction indicated by the letter (C). In this action, appears a force shown by the arrow (D). 2) The liquid outlet produces a jet (J), which creates a reaction shown by the arrow (R). 3) The energy of the liquid when discharged by the jet (J), is used and absorbed by the Pelton turbine (T) so reducing her jet action on the system, which, in case of no existence of turbine, would annul the reaction of the jet. 4) The energy obtained by the turbine (T) is conveyed to the motor by the gear box and shafts (E) and (P). 5) This system gives the possibility to obtain a force that is the sum of the forces (D) and (R), minus the force (G) and could be used in any vehicle. 6) The negative force (G) which must be substracted from the forces (D) and (R), is the result of the action of the liquid against the turbine shells. 7) The progressive decrease of the conduit diameter from the propeller (A), has the purpose of distinguishing the centrifugal forces of the liquid between the upper and lower half parts of the conduit. As the liquid can run faster in the upper half than in the lower, larger centrifugal forces result in the upper half, due to the formula: F=m.v2/r being F the force, m the mass of the liquid, v the speed and r the radius. In this way the design of the conduit increases the gain of the system. 8) This propulsion system is destined to be applied in any aerial, spatial, earthly and maritime vehicles.

PROPULSION SYSTEM BASED ON ACTION-REACTION IMBALANCE

The invention concerns a new type of propulsion that generates in itself, directional forces that permit to any one vehicle or mover where applied its autonomous displacement.

The working specification of this new type of propulsion is as follows:

1 - The propeller (A) moved by the motor, impels the liquid of the conduit (B) on the direction indicated by the letter (C). In this action, appear a force shown by the letter (D) with the direction indicated by the correspondent array.

2 - The liquid outlets produces a jet (J), which creates a reaction shown by the letter (R) on the direction of the correspondent array.

3 - The energy of the liquid when discharged by the jet

(J), is used and absorbed by the Pelton type turbine (T) so reducing her jet action on the system, what, in case of no existence of turbine, would annul the

reaction of the jet. - The energy obtained by the turbine (T) is conveyed to the motor by the gear box and shafts (E) and (P). - This system gives the posssibility to obtain a force produced in itself that is the sum of the forces (D) and (R), minus the force (G) and for that reason could be used and managed in any mover. - The negative force (G) which must be substracted to the forces (D) and (R) , is the result of the action of the liquid against the turbine shells that rebound on the shaft turbine. This force is inversely proportional to the turbine diameter (T), but it is always smaller than the reaction force (R). Therefore there exists a compromise between the turbine size and the total profits of the assemblage. - The impulse that the system produces in itself there is dependent on of the forces (D)+(R)-(G) , which are produced by the propeller (A). On the other hand, this one receives the energy from the motor plus the energy from the turbine. - The progressive decrease of the conduit diameter from the propeller (A), according to the drawing, has the purpose of distinguishing of the centrifugal forces of the liquid between the upper and lowers part of the conduit. As the amount of liquid that circulates in both halves is the same, this arragement allows that

the liquid can run faster in the upper half than in the lower, resulting in larger centrifugal forces in the upper half due to the formula F=m.v 2 /r being F the force, m the mass of the liquid, v the speed and r the radius. In this way the design of the conduit as indicated increases the gain of the system.

APPLICATION OF THIS NEW PROPULSION SYSTEM

Considering that new propulsion system is implemented in one mover pretending that it rises on the space, this system must be applied so that the forces produced by her action there is applied in vertical direction. In this case, there is a lift force only, but if the systems are oblique the lift force decreases but the displacement forces appears. The sum of both forces is constantly invariant according with the power supplied by the engine.

In this type of application will be necessary, eventually, three systems to obtain the control of the vehicle, regarding the stability and displacement. If the three systems are positioned on the vertices of one horizontal triangle concerning the vehicle, controlling the power of the systems, the action on those points is controlled simultaneously. In this case the stability and the way wanted, is achieved by the

forces developed in individual systems, correcting at the same time the variations due to the number and position of the occupants of the vehicle and the variable load.

With the vehicle steadiness, the horizontal flight control is obtained by the action on the systems and the power supplied by the engine. If the vehicle is obliqued to the front putting the rear more elevated by the system's action, this one goes forward. In opposite position the vehicle has tendency to stop or go backwards.

The direction control is obtained by turning the vehicle to the left or to the right using the control systems.

This procedure is similar to the one used on the aircraft and helicopters.

With this system is possible to build vehicles with the resemblance and utility of the usual automobiles, but without any external mechanical device, like propellers or winds which impossibility the approach of other resemblance vehicles. This system also permits the movement of these vehicles above the surface at any height.

Practically it has the advantages of the aircraft concerning the travels in straight lines and the advantages of common automobiles concerning its usual utility.

The construction type could be significantly moderated and for that same reason cheaper, regarding the usual automobiles, because it is not exposed to the efforts concerning traveling in irregular roads.

Many expensive mechanical devices, like gear box, clutch, transmissions, suspension, brakes, wheels and tires, are useless, which make this vehicle cheaper than the usual automobiles.

In fact, all these new vehicle needs, eventually, is one or more standard engines, similar to the one used on automobiles, three small propellers, three small hydraulic turbines, the attachment, the conduits and a device to coinmand the systems. - Considering that new propulsion system is installed on one mover pretending that move itself on the ground, or there is installed in a boat or in one ship, the system or the systems will be fixed in an horizontal plane, applying the action in this direction. - In spite of this system having as principal objective the replacement of the common automobiles by another with advantages, is also true that this system could be applied on the outer space research.

Until today that researches use the rockets that are restrained to the fuel capacity, expensive and short life.

As the object of this invention is independent of the

environment, it could be used in any situation, since that exists one power that produces movement to turn the system.

This system maintains the same characteristics all times, with or without the gravity forces, because the movement's mass, actions and reactions, which are the working principle, remain the same in any situation.

On the space it is possible to obtain movement by the voltaic cellules, activated by the Sun, or by an atomic engine.

Besides both these and other devices are in use on the outer space research.

This system, supplied by an atomic engine, should be able to give a constant force to the space craft, reaching far away regions' with useful payload in a shorter time.

For these reasons this system could open a new era on the conquest and discovery of space.
