Abstract:
Provided are a protection relay capable of properly automatically adjusting the transmission level of a data transmission so as not to affect another system using an adjacent transmission path and a method for adjusting the transmission level of the protection relay. An A/D converter (11) obtains the current flowing through a power line (4) via a CT (5). A calculator (12) executes various kinds of protection calculations, such as a current differential calculation, using current data at own end and current data at an opposing end. A transmission and reception circuit (13) transmits the current data at own end through a transmission path (3) to a protection relay (1) at the opposing end. A reception level detector (14) detects the reception level of transmission data transmitted from the opposing end and received by the transmission and reception circuit (13). Based on the difference between a reception level detected within a certain time (t1) after data transmission has been established with the protection relay (1) at the opposing end and a predetermined reception level, a transmission controller (15) performs control so that the transmission level decreases after the certain time (t1) has elapsed.
