Abstract:

A composition utilized to prevent the deposit of overspray, the composition comprising, based on the total weight of the composition, (a) from about 1% to about 60% by weight a blend of dibasic esters; (b) from about 10% to about 75% by weight one or more surfactants; and (c) a thickener, and methods for use. The dibasic esters are be derived from a blend of adipic, glutaric, and succinic diacids, and, in one particular embodiment, the blend comprises dialkyl methylglutarate and at least one of dialkyl adipate and dialkyl ethylsuccinate, wherein the alkyl groups individually comprise a C1-Cj2 hydrocarbon group. The one or more surfactants are typically chosen from alcohol alkoxylate, an alkyl phenol ethoxylate, a terpene, a terpene alkoxylate or any derivates thereof. The thickener is typically one or a combination of polyacrylates, magnesium silicates, polyvinyl alcohol, fumed silicas, guar gum, guar gum derivatives, cellulose, and cellulose derivatives.
