The purpose of the present invention is to provide a protective member which is to be wound around the periphery of an electric wire, and balances protection of the electric wire with a soundproofing function while keeping the protective member thin. The protective member is to be wound around the periphery of the electric wire. The protective member is equipped with a first sheet material formed from a non-woven fabric material, and a second sheet material that constitutes one principal surface of the protective member, overlaps the first sheet material, and is formed from one of the following materials: a woven fabric; a non-woven fabric obtained by joining fibers that are longer than the fibers which constitute the non-woven fabric in the first sheet material; and a non-woven fabric which has a greater number of intertwining joining sites than does the non-woven fabric in the first sheet material.
