Abstract:
It is intended to provide a method of immobilizing a protein on a solid phase characterized by comprising bringing the protein into contact with the solid phase having hydrophobic surface in the presence of a lower alcohol, a halogenocarboxylic acid and/or a long-chain alkyl sulfate; a liquid reagent for the immobilization to be used in this method; a method of quantifying a protein characterized by comprising bringing a solid phase carrying the protein immobilized by the immobilization method as described above into contact with a protein-staining solution and quantifying the protein depending on the degree of color development thus induced; and an immunoblotting method characterized by using a solid phase having a protein immobilized thereon by the immobilization method as described above. Moreover, it is intended to provide a method of detecting abnormal PrP and a method of judging BSE which are superior in quickness and accuracy to the existing methods.
