Abstract:
Disclosed is a compound represented by the formula (I) below, which selectively accelerates biosynthesis of a proteoglycan, particularly a chondroitin sulfate proteoglycan or a heparan sulfate proteoglycan. Also disclosed is a pharmaceutical product containing such a compound as an active ingredient. (I) (In the formula, R represents a hydrogen atom, an optionally substituted alkyl, an optionally substituted aryl, an optionally substituted heteroaryl, or a peptide residue composed of a natural or non-natural amino acid; and X and Y represent a halogen atom, a hydroxy group or an alkoxy group. In this connection, at least one of X and Y represents a hydroxy group, but both X and Y are not hydroxy groups at the same time.)
