Title:
PTC ELEMENT AND HEATING-ELEMENT MODULE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2011/126040
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
Disclosed is a PTC element that can be made thinner, using a lead-free semiconductor ceramic composition. This is achieved with a PTC element comprised of at least two metal electrodes, and a BaTiO3 system semiconductor ceramic composition arranged in between the electrodes, and wherein the semiconductor ceramic composition has a portion of barium in the BaTiO3 system substituted by Bi-Na and a semiconductorized element, has holes formed on bismuth sites by making at least a portion of the bismuth deficient, and has oxygen defects formed on the crystal thereof. Since the PTCR characteristic within the semiconductor ceramic composition is very weak in comparison to the PTCR characteristic at the interface between the semiconductor ceramic composition and the electrodes, so as to be able to be ignored, the PTC element can be made thinner.
