Abstract:

A pulsation-generating electromagnetic pump (5) equipped with: a cylinder (9c) having an electromagnetic coil (9b); a magnetic head (9d); an electromagnetic plunger piston (9e) provided so as to be capable of reciprocating within the cylinder between a discharge position and a recovery position; and springs (9f, 9g) for biasing the piston so as to move to the recovery position. The piston has a through-hole (9k), and the diameter (R2) of the through-hole is set such that the maximum value of the discharge pressure (which moves water to the downstream side of the cylinder when water is being supplied and the piston moves to the discharge position in response to the supply of electricity for a pulse voltage) is equal to or greater than a discharge pressure standard value, and such that the difference between the maximum value and a minimum value of the discharge pressure (when application of the pulse voltage is stopped and the piston returns to the recovery position under the force of the springs) is equal to or greater than a pressure difference standard value. By means of this configuration a check valve provided in the through-hole can be eliminated and the durability of the electromagnetic pump can be increased, while maintaining the desired output characteristics.
