Abstract:
Provided is a pump mechanism in which a sufficient fluid gap can be ensured and passive control is used. A magnetic-levitation-type pump mechanism (1) is provided with at least: a housing (10) having a blood flow path formed therein; and an impeller (20) that is rotatably housed in the housing (10). The housing (10) has a torque transmission member (11) and a housing-side magnet (12). The impeller (20) has a torque reception member (21) and an impeller-side magnet (22). The impeller (20) is rotated by actions of the torque transmission member (11) and the torque reception member (21). Since the housing-side magnet (12) and the impeller-side magnet (22) are disposed such that thrust force generated by rotation of the impeller (20) and magnetic force of each magnet is balanced, the impeller (20) stays at a predetermined position in a state of being levitated in the housing (10).
