Abstract:
Provided is a heavy metal adsorbing/immobilizing agent and a heavy metal adsorbing/immobilizing system, which can adsorb and immobilize heavy metals in water efficiently and very easily without causing secondary damage to an ecosystem. The heavy metal adsorbing/immobilizing agent contains magnesium oxide, calcium oxide, and silicon oxide as primary components. The agent is characterized by the following: containing an oxide, a hydroxide, a chloride such as a sulfate, a carbonate, or a phosphate, and a clay mineral such as a crystalline clay mineral, a non-crystalline clay mineral, or a para-crystalline clay mineral as secondary components; and the primary components and the secondary components all being natural materials. The heavy metal adsorbing/immobilizing agent adsorbs and immobilizes heavy metals eluted in water in harbor, conduits, drain outlets, and the like by using the ion exchange/ion adsorption mechanism, the inter-layer intake mechanism of a layered crystal, or the insolubilization mechanism of a metal complex crystal.
