Abstract:
The present invention relates to a pyroelectric infrared sensor using single crystals. The pyroelectric infrared sensor of the present invention is characterized by comprising a pyroelectric element generating charges through the incidence of infrared rays, wherein the pyroelectric element consists essentially of pyroelectric materials having the composition of chemical formula 1 below. [Chemical formula 1], i.e. s[L]-x[P]y[M]z[N]p[T], where [P] is lead oxide (PbO, PbO2, PbO4), [M] is magnesium oxide (MgO), zinc oxide (ZnO) or zirconium oxide (ZrO2), [N] is niobium oxide [Nb2O5], [T] is titanium oxide [TiO2], and [L] is at least one or two species of metals selected from the group consisting of lithium, platinum, gold, silver, palladium, rhodium, indium, nickel, cobalt, iron, strontium, ruthenium, manganese, copper, yttrium, ytterbium, niobium, and tantalum, is an oxide including the at least one or two species of metals, or a carbonate including the at least one or two species of metals. The pyroelectric infrared sensor of the present invention has a fast response speed and superior noise characteristics. Therefore, the pyroelectric infrared sensor can be used as an alarm in an elevator, a corridor, a toilet, or a stairway, or a device for crime prevention or a fire alarm. Further, it is expected that the pyroelectric infrared sensor can be widely used as a sensor inside various high-tech devices such as power cable safety monitoring systems, electronic devices, vehicles, and mobile communication devices.
