Abstract:
A water heater that uses organic sludge as its fuel, realizing prevention of hazardous substance
emission and compact installation space, and that ensures low construction cost
and high energy efficiency. The pyrolytic water heater using organic sludge as
its fuel comprises sludge dryer (20) for converting organic sludge to dry sludge of
40 to 20% water content; pyrolytic furnace (30) for processing through flameless combustion
of the dry sludge in oxygen-deficient condition; and heat exchanger (40) disposed
so as to surround the dry sludge within the pyrolytic furnace (30). The heat exchanger
(40) is connected by piping to boiler (50) for supplying steam to the sludge dryer
(20). The sludge dryer (20) is equipped with heating drum (22) heated by steam
from the boiler (50) and a scraper blade for scraping off any dry sludge adhering
to the surface thereof. The pyrolytic furnace (30) is equipped at its side wall
with air suction member (35) capable of regulating the amount of ambient air introduced
in the furnace, and equipped with emission outlet (31R) for drawing out outside
the furnace any dry distillate of dry sludge recovered in the bottom zone within
the furnace.
