This invention comprises, disposed in front of a main electrode portion (31), a pre-electrode portion (32) having a two-stage constitution wherein a front-stage pre-electrode part (32A) and a back-stage pre-electrode part (32B) are applied a high-frequency voltage having the same frequency as the high-frequency voltage applied to a rod electrode of the main electrode portion (31), and having an amplitude that decreases in steps in the forward direction. By suitably adjusting the amplitude, the match between the emittance and the acceptance of an injected ion beam can be improved so that the smaller the amplitude of the high-frequency voltage, the larger the acceptance of ions. The ion transmittance of the entirety of the quadrupole mass filter (3) is influenced more by the transmittance when the ions enter into the pre-electrode portion (32) and the transmittance when the ions enter from the pre-electrode portion (32) into the main electrode portion (31) than the transmittance within the pre-electrode portion (32). Thus, by improving these transmittances, the ion transmittance can be improved for the entirety of the quadrupole mass filter (3).
