Abstract:
A synthetic antibacterial agent having a quinoline ring of general formula (I), which is effective against a mesitylene-resistant staphylococcus and lowly toxic, wherein R1 and R2 represent each hydrogen or alkyl; R3 represents hydrogen, alkyl or acyl; and R4 represents alkyl. It has a wide antibacterial spectrum and a reduced toxicity and is effective in treating generalized and local infections.
