Abstract:
An apparatus for radiation tomography wherein a radiation source for irradiating radiation such as X-rays in the form of a fan beam and a multi-channel radiation detector that is arranged in an offset manner relative to said radiation source with a subject interposed therebetween, are turned around the subject, said subject is irradiated with radiation in the form of a fan beam along the cross section thereof, the data representing the distribution of transmission intensities of radiation are measured in a plurality of directions in the cross section of said subject, and the image of cross section of the subject is reconstructed based on the data on the arrangement corresponding to the fan beam. The insertion data found from the data measured in the corresponding directions are inserted in the measured data in a stage that precedes the convolution or the filtering, and the image of cross section of the subject is reconstructed based on the measured data that are increased by the above-mentioned insertion. The apparatus is suited for improving the quality of the reconstructed image of the subject or the like as well as for increasing its resolution.
