Abstract:
A reception device (200a) transmits reception device state information indicating a modulation method and a transmission path encoding method corresponding to the reception device (200a). A transmission device determines the mapping method of a downlink signal to be transmitted to the reception device (200a) in accordance with the received reception device state information. When the reception device (200a) is compatible with the BICM-ID, the reception device (200a) transmits reception device state information indicating that the reception device (200a) is compatible with the BICM-ID. This realizes a backward compatibility with a communication system employing the gray mapping and enables application of the BICM-ID.
