Abstract:
The invention relates to a radio system for warning the general population comprised of a time signal and standard frequency transmitter, preferably a long-wave transmitter, and of receivers for this frequency in order to transmit the standard time and the date for radio-controlled clocks. According to the invention, the time information is transmitted in a digital and encoded manner in a determined time cycle, whereby time that is still free for the transmission of other data is provided in each time cycle. The invention is characterized in that the free transmission time is used for transmitting warnings in the instance of a dangerous situation, whereby the transmitter disposes of appropriate means for encoding and modulating the warnings. The receivers are designed such that, in addition to receiving the time signals, they receive and evaluate warnings and, in the instance of a warning, they activate acoustic warning transmitters and/or optical displays and/or interfaces.
