Abstract:
[Problem] The purpose of the present invention is to provide a novel radiological image detector, which can detect radiation, such as hard X-rays and γ-rays, with high sensitivity, and which has excellent position resolution and count rate characteristics. [Solution] Provided is a radiological image detector having combined therein a scintillator, which converts inputted radiation into ultraviolet, and a gas-multiplication ultraviolet image detector, which converts ultraviolet into electrons, multiplies the electrons using gas electron avalanche phenomenon, and detects the electrons. The radiological image detector is characterized in that the scintillator is formed of a LiLuF4 crystal containing at least one kind of emission center element selected from among a group composed of Nd, Er and Tm, and that the gas-multiplication ultraviolet image detector is configured of a photoelectric converter, such as cesium iodide and cesium telluride that convert ultraviolet into electrons, a gas electron multiplier, which multiplies electrons using gas electron avalanche phenomenon, and a pixelated electrode having a multiplication function and a detection function.
