Patent Searching and Data

Title:
RAID MECHANISM-BASED DATA STORAGE SYSTEM FOR SHARING RESOURCES GLOBALLY
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2019/090756
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
A redundant array of inexpensive/independent disks (RAID) mechanism-based data storage system for sharing resources globally, comprising a first number of disks. A RAID mechanism is used to store data on each disk, and blocks on different disks form a strip; at least one of the blocks of the strip stores parity information, wherein the width of the strip is less than the first number, and the data layout of the data storage system satisfies the following characteristics: any two physical blocks inside the strip are distributed on different disks; the data blocks distributed on each disk are the same, and distributed check blocks are also the same; the other data of the strip associated with any block of disk data is evenly distributed across all remaining disks. Normal data layout and degraded data layout may be specifically implemented by means of orthogonal Latin squares. The described system may remove the limitation of the number of disks in a normal data storage system being equal to the strip width, breaks the resource isolation between each disk group, and achieves complete balance of reconstructed read loads in the event of a disk failure.
