Abstract:
Provided is a rail fastening element whereby a rail will remain fastened on a beam even if a load from an earthquake or the like is applied to the rail. The rail fastening element is provided with: a coupling member (10) that can be mounted on a runway girder (G) top plate (GP) edge; and a shaft member (20) connecting the coupling member (10) and a rail (R). The coupling member (10) is provided with: a pair of sandwiching parts (12, 13); a coupling part (14) coupling the base ends of the pair of sandwiching parts (12, 13); and a shaft member coupling part (15) coupled to the shaft member (20). An engagement groove (11) is formed between the pair of sandwiching parts (12, 13) and is contiguous with a front end opening. The shaft member coupling part (15) is arranged on the external surface of the front end of one (12) of sandwiching parts. The coupling member (10) is formed such that, in case a force is applied in a direction of separation of the front ends of the pair of sandwiching parts (12, 13), the bending strength of a coupling portion between one sandwiching part (12) and the coupling part (14) is less than the bending strength of the shaft member (20).
