Abstract:

Provided is a railway vehicle in which the compartment layouts in railway vehicles having a floor-mounted internal combustion engine and railway vehicles not having a floor-mounted internal combustion engine are harmonized, and the space for each of the compartments is not reduced. A railway vehicle comprising an underframe (50) that constitutes part of a floor, an internal combustion engine (24) that is installed on the lower surface of the underframe (50), and an exhaust pipe (26) that discharges exhaust gas from the internal combustion engine (24), wherein the underframe (50) is provided with a body bolster (54) to which a bogie (50) is attached, and the exhaust pipe (26) is laid out to near the long-direction ends of the underframe (50), passing through the widthwise center of the body bolster (54), which constitutes part of the underframe (50).
