Description:
DESCRIPTION

TITLE OF INVENTION

A Raised Pavement Marking Apparatus

And Installing Method Thereof

TECHNICAL FIELD

The present invention is related to providing a raise pavement marking apparatus for installing on a high leve road or a curve road, or an uphill road and a road, in tha there are a heavy snowfall, and an installing method the reof.

BACKGROUND ART

It has been well known that the raised pavement marking has the function for reflecting the light of the head light in order to represent the central line, getting over the driver's sleepy spell and showing the central line during it is raining or snowing. Conventional raised pavement marking has been installed by way of striking it into the road or by using the adhesive agent, but even though a little amount of snow has been fell, a rasied pavement marking is invisible before the snow is melted or removed therefrom. Further¬ more, since a snowplow cars or equipments must be mobilized

to clear the pavement of snow, the traffic will be brought to a standstill for a moment. Also, if a thawing agent is used to melt a snow, it has been numerous defects that the supplementary budget is required as well as various road safety facilities, for example a guard rail, a street light and a traffic safety sign, installed on the road and the car ' body are corroded and broken due to the agent. Namely, the budget required for melting the snow is amounted to W 750,000 ( $ 1200 ) per a Km in Young Dong Line of Kangwon- Do, Korea. The amount of damage announced in the statistics report of West Germany are as follows ; the corrosion damage is $ 80 per a car for one year, the damage due to the withering of the roadside tree is amounted to $ 45 million for one year, the road crack is promoted and the ground water is contaminated.

DISCLOSURE OF INVENTION

Considering into these points, the present invention is designed so that the road raised pavement marking is conve¬ nient to be mounted on the existing road, and when it snows or rains snows are melted or the road surface is dried in order to smooth the traveling of the car.

Accordingly, the object of the present invention is to provide a raised pavement marking apparatus for melting and/or drying the snow or the rain.

The other object of the present invention is to provide a method for installing a raised pavement marking.

The present invention comprises the raised pavement marking apparatus including a duct pipe laid horizontally or vertically in the predetermined arrangement under the sub- base course of the ground, a vertical connection pipe commu¬ nicated by way of the nozzle with the cavity of a raised pavement marking and a horizontal connection pipe which is inserted in said duct pipe and having numerous drain pipe and at least one air heater and compressor installed on the predetermined position or it's end, a raised pavement mar¬ king fixing hole formed in the surface course and the base course, a precast concrete block for fixing said vertical connection pipe and a raised pavement marking which is inserted in said fixing hole, and a raised pavement marking having at least one reflector mounted on it's slant surface, a cavity formed in it's central portion, numerous jet hole formed radially around it's periphery, which is communicated with said cavity and a fixing pin for supporting the raised pavement marking, which is inserted into the fixing hole formed in said block.

Therefore, the present invention is constructed so that an air pipe is laid under the ground of the road, an air nozzle is mounted on the front end of a connection pipe connected to said air pipe and is communicated with the

cavity of a raised pavement marking fixed on the surface of the road, whereby the heated air supplied through the air pipe is jetted out of the road surface through the nozzle and the raised pavement marking to melt the snow piled on the road surface and also to remove the moisture therefrom, so that the road surface is always kept in the drying state ' in order to help the smooth travel of the vehicles.

DETAIL DESCRIPION OF THE PRESENT INVENTION

The configuration of the present invention will be explained below ;

Firstly, it is noted that the pavement road is general¬ ly constructed as three layers including surface course 20, base course 20 and subbase course 30 as shown in Fig.5 an 6.

Duct pipe 1 is horizontally and vertically mounted under subbase course 30 of the ground in the predetermined arrangement. Horizontal connection pipe 2 is inserted in horizontal duct pipe 1 and is provided with drain pipe 12 and air heater/compressor 7 connected to it's end or it's appropriate position. Vertiacl connection pipe 3 is laid through subbase course 30 to surface and base course 20, one end of which is connected to the predetermined position of horizontal connection pipe 2 and the other end of which has heated air nozzle 4. precast concrete block 9 is inserted in precast hole 13, which is formed through surface course 20 and base course 20, to retain vertical connection pipe 3 and

has raised pavement marking fixing hole 10 for fixing raised pavement marking 6. Raised pavement marking 6 has the cavity formed therein r which is communicated from nozzle 4 to air heater/compressor 1 , jet hole 5 formed radially around the middle portion of the slant surface thereon and reflector 11 for reflecting the light of the head light mounted on slant surface.

The method for installing the raised pavement marking apparatus of the present invention as described above will be explained below;

In order to installing raised pavement marking 6 on the road, firstly, the horizontal boring is performed to form the boring hole through the side of the road. Thereafter, the vertical boring is performed at the position to be installed so that it is connected to the horizontal boring hole. Horizontal duct pipe 1 is inserted into the horizontal boring -hole and heated air pipe or horizontal connection pipe 2 is inserted into horizontal duct pipe 1, and vertical duct pipe 3 is inserted into the vertical boring hole so that horizontal connection pipe 2 is connected to vertical connection pipe 3 which is inserted into the vertical boring hole. Then, between duct pipe 1 and the vertical boring hole there are filled sands and precast concrete block 9 is fitly inserted onto vertical connection pipe 3 following to the waterproof treatment of it's lower portion while it's upper

portion is filled/treated by the filling material or the aspalt. Then, nozzle 4 is mounted on vertical connection pipe 3 and positioned in raised pavement marking 6. Raised pavement marking 6 is fixed to precast concrete block 9 with it,s fixing pin 8 being inserted into fixing hole 10 of precast concrete block 9.

The acting effect of the present invention will be described below;

In connection with the configuration of the present invention, if raised pavement marking 6 is mounted on the road and it snows, air heater/compressor 7 is operated to jet the heated air from nozzle 4 through horizontal connec- tion pipe 2 and vertical connection pipe 3, so that the snow piled on the road is melted.

Thus, since it is not necessary to mobilize the snow removal ' machine, the cause of the traffic obstacle is re- moved to allow the vehicles to smoothly travel on the road. Also it resolves the budget problems that the thawing agent must be used to melt the snow on the road while the road facilities and the car bodies are protected from the corro¬ sion and the breakage due to the thawing agent.

In connection with the installation of the present inve¬ ntion, since the horizontal boring is performed to form the

boring hole on the side of the road referred to the sidewalk or the road shoulder in which the duct pipe and the connec¬ tion pipe are inserted, it is not necessary to dig in the road surface so that the occurrence of the traffic obstacles is previously prevented. Also, when the boring is vertically performed on the road, the damage of the road surface may be prevented since only the small area of the road is bored.

And the installation of the duct pipe gives the space to facilitate the replacement and maintenance of the connec¬ tion pipe.

Also, since the waterproof treatment is performed a- round the periphery of the precast concrete block or the filling material is filled therebetween, the precast con¬ crete block is kept in the plain state not to move or sink under the ground.

As described above, the present invention has numerous advantages that it is convenience to install the raised pavement marking in the conventional road, when it rains or snows the air heater/compressor is operated to melt the snow and also to dry the road surface so that the travel of the car is smoothly performed.
