Abstract:
A ram drive method, comprising the steps of fixing, to a fixed part (9), one end part of a large diameter piston rod (5R) formed integrally with a large diameter piston (5P) which is reciprocatingly installed in a large diameter cylinder (5) fitted to a ram (3) and connecting one end part of a small diameter piston rod (7R) formed integrally with a small diameter piston (7P) which is reciprocatingly installed in a small diameter cylinder (7) formed integrally with the large diameter cylinder to a moving member (17) movably driven by a motor. The small diameter cylinder and the small diameter piston are moved integrally with each other, the first chamber (5A) and the second chamber (5B) of the large diameter cylinder partitioned by the large diameter piston are allowed to communicate with each other, and after the ram is moved integrally with the small diameter piston rod moved by the moving member, the small diameter cylinder is allowed to communicate with the large diameter cylinder to move the large diameter cylinder with a large force by a working fluid supplied from the small diameter cylinder thereto.
