Abstract:
Provided are random access determination method and device. The method comprises: according to a measurement result of a reference signal, a terminal device determines, in multiple areas in a subdistrict, a target area where the terminal device is located, wherein the multiple areas respectively correspond to multiple TAs; and the terminal device sends an Msg 1 in a 4-step random access process or an Msg A in a 2-step random access process to a network device according to the TA corresponding to the target area. Since the subdistrict is divided into multiple areas, the maximum delay difference in each area is significantly reduced compared to the maximum delay difference in the entire subdistrict, and the length of a receiving window for the network device to receive a lead code can be reduced, thereby avoiding the problem of receiving windows corresponding to different ROs being overlapped caused by a large receiving window. In addition, different areas correspond to different TAs, and terminal devices in different areas use different TAs to send the lead code. In this way, effective random access in the NTN system is realized without increasing the length of the receiving window.
