Abstract:
Rare earth ferrite particles according to the present invention are represented by the following formula (1): Ln2xFe2(1 - x)O3 (where Ln is a rare earth element selected from the group consisting of lanthanum, praseodymium, neodymium, and yttrium, and x is a number from 0.45 or greater to less than 1.00). The rare earth ferrite particles, in a volume cumulative distribution of particle size distribution, comprises small particles and large particles, the small particles having a particle size within the range from 0.01 to 1.0 μm, and the large particles having a particle size within the range from greater than 1.0 μm to less than or equal to 17. 0 μm. The volume ratio of the small particles in relation to the total volume of the small particles and the large particles is from 10 volume% to 90 volume%.
