Abstract:
Provided is a ratchet tensioner for easily releasing the engagement between a plunger and a ratchet during engine maintenance, reducing the flapping sound by reliably engaging the plunger and the ratchet when starting the engine, and preventing the plunger from becoming damaged. A ratchet tensioner (100) in which a ratchet releasing mechanism for releasing the engagement of the ratchet teeth (151) of a ratchet (150) and the rack teeth (122) of a plunger (120) by means of a tool pin (T) is configured from: a ratchet-releasing pin leading hole (114) formed on a housing main body (110) and for sticking the tip (P1) of the tool pin (T) towards the plunger-side tip region of the ratchet (150); and a ratchet-releasing pin engaging hole (155) formed on the plunger-side tip region of the ratchet (150) and for leading and engaging the tip (P1) of the tool pin (T) that was inserted into the ratchet-releasing pin leading hole (114).
