Abstract:

Embodiments of the present application provide a rate negotiation method and a device for the same. The method comprises: a first apparatus switching, within a rotation period of a first optical fiber transmission rate set, an optical fiber transmission rate of a first port of the first apparatus to a first optical fiber transmission rate according to a pre-determined switching direction; sending, within a duration of the first optical fiber transmission rate, a negotiation packet to a second apparatus via the first port of the first apparatus, the duration of the first optical fiber transmission rate being greater than or equal to a sum of the durations of all optical fiber transmission rates before the switch to the first optical fiber transmission rate and a pre-determined negotiation time sum; and if the first port of the first apparatus receives, within the duration of the first optical fiber transmission rate, a response packet from the second apparatus, controlling the first port of the first apparatus to communicate with the second apparatus according to the first optical fiber transmission rate. The embodiments of the present application enable apparatuses to negotiate an optical fiber transmission rate in a concurrent manner, thereby effectively reducing the time to negotiate a rate.
