Provided are a reaction system and method for preparing ethanol using syngas. The reaction system comprises: a methanol preparation unit, a reaction unit for preparing dimethyl ether from methanol and a reaction unit for preparing ethanol from dimethyl ether that are connected in sequence. The methanol preparation unit comprises a microbubble generator and a synthesis column. An inert oil and a syngas are simultaneously introduced into the microbubble generator, mixed, dispersed and crushed, enter into the synthesis column, and yield crude methanol through synthesis reactions. The crude methanol is distilled successively in a first distillation column and a second distillation column to obtain refined methanol, which is conveyed to the reaction unit for preparing dimethyl ether from methanol. The reaction system provided reduces energy consumption, reduces reaction temperature, improves raw material utilization and effectively enhances productivity.
