Abstract:
Disclosed are a reactive species supply device and a surface treatment device that protect discharge electrode sections from processing gas, and prevent oxidation and lengthen the life thereof. Electrodes (22 to 25) are covered by electrode covers (22P to 25P) and discharge openings (22HL to 25HL and 22HR to 25HR, with 22HL and 25HR being blocked) are provided. In addition, protective gas flow inlets (22Q to 25Q) are provided at a 90° phase-displaced position on the upstream side of the discharge openings (22HL to 25 HL and 22HR to 25HR). The protective gas that is caused to flow in from the protective gas flow inlets (22Q to 25Q) is made to flow around the periphery of the discharge electrode sections (22S to 25S) and flow out into a discharge space. Supply of protective gas to the discharge electrode sections (22S to 25S) can make contact between the discharge electrode sections (22S to 25S) and the processing gas difficult. This enables oxidation of the discharge electrode sections (22S to 25S) to be suppressed and the life thereof to be lengthened.
