Abstract:

A reading system according to an embodiment of the present invention is provided with an extraction unit, a determination unit and a read unit. The extraction unit extracts, from an input image, a candidate image that is a candidate for a portion where a segment display is imaged. The determination unit calculates, using the candidate image and a preset mask, a relevance ratio that indicates the probability of the segment display being included in the candidate image, and determines, when the relevance ratio is greater than or equal to a preset threshold, that the candidate image is an image of the segment display. The read unit reads a numeric value displayed on the segment display from the candidate image determined to be the image of the segment display.
