Abstract:
[PROBLEMS] To provide a reagent for the detection of a bacterium Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris which can detect Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris rapidly and can distinguish Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris from Alicyclobacillus acidocaldarius to confirm the presence of Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris readily, a culture medium for use in the detection, and a method for the detection. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A sample containing an extracted fruit juice is smeared onto the surface of an Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris detection culture medium containing 2,3,5-triphenyl-2H-tetrazolium chloride, and the culture medium is then incubated at a temperature ranging from 40&ring C to 50&ring C. The presence of a bacterium Alicyclobacillus acidoterrestris can be detected on the basis of the presence of red color development caused by the colonies formed on the culture medium.
