Abstract:

A reamer is caused to rotate about a central axis, and has a tool tip end and a tool rear end, which is on the opposite side from the tool tip end, in a direction following the central axis. The reamer comprises a blade part on the tool-tip-end side. The blade part has: a biting cutting blade positioned on the tool-tip-end side of the outer peripheral surface; an outer peripheral cutting blade that is continuous with the tool-rear-end-side end of the biting cutting blade; and a margin, which is a surface that is continuous with the outer peripheral cutting blade. The outer peripheral cutting blade includes a tip end section between a first position, which is at the biting-cutting-blade-side end, and a second position, which is located at a distance of 1 mm from the first position in the extension direction of the outer peripheral cutting blade. As seen from a direction that is orthogonal to the central axis and passes through the central axis and the outer peripheral cutting blade, the maximum length of chipping extending from the outer peripheral cutting blade to the margin in a direction orthogonal to the extension direction of the outer peripheral cutting blade is less than 10 μm.
